ROO 1 AND 2
Spa 1 & 2 are about 50 meters from the main guesthouse complex and close to the heated pool, lounge, and guest dining room and reception at Kumandine. Original farm buildings built at the beginning of the twentieth century, each room has been slightly extended to provide a seating area with a 54cm TV and refreshment tray. A modern 6-jet corner bath is situated adjacent to a queen-sized bed, and a wash basin and toilet are tucked away in a curtained alcove. The furniture is cottage-style Oregon pine, on tiled floors with loose carpets for extra comfort. A garden table and two chairs are provided outside the door in an area sheltered by Ash Trees.
Permanent family residence
ROOM 4 - OWL
Sited at the head of the entrance drive, Owl is the only suite-type room, with a beautiful king-sized brass bed. The low- beamed ceilings in the spacious bedroom pays tribute to the original farm buildings. The tiled floors have loose carpets and there is an en-suite toilet, basin and shower (no bath). The back section of the front room resembles a kitchenette, with a counter that doubles as a desk, for the student who also needs a break, or that e-mail that just can't wait! Although there are no cooking facilities, groups of ladies and people with special dietary needs often request this room for its sink and fridge/freezer. The front half of the room has two antique chairs and a 37 cm TV. The little stoep at the entrance has a table and chairs and offers a lovely view of the hills to the East.
ROOM 5 - KINGFISHER
Kingfisher is sited next to the coldwater swimming pool and has a private garden area with a table and chairs with a view of a bird-feeding area. This unit is carpeted, has an en-suite bathroom (no shower) and a conventional ceiling with a ceiling fan in the seating area . The raised queen-sized bed is under a lace canopy and has a perfect view of the 54cm TV. The wrought-iron furniture was hand-made by Frank and Craig, and co-ordinates with the curtains and soft furnishings.
ROOM 6 - HORNBILL
With its own private external entrance, thatch ceiling and original wooden plank flooring, Hornbill still forms part of the original farm house. The ambient lighting, green décor and wood- and wrought-iron furniture all come together to create a subdued, tranquil atmosphere. The en-suite bathroom (no shower) is a recent addition, with a pine ceiling. As the only room with two beds, (a queen-sized under a laced canopy, and a single), Hornbill is more frequently booked by women traveling together, girlfriends seeking pampering, and daughters treating their mothers. The TV is 37 cm, and the outside seating area is under trees and overlooks the stream, which makes it ideal for bird-watching.
ROOM 7 - LOVEBIRD
Lovebird, also part of the main house with an external entrance, was the first room converted in response to wedding clients' request for accommodation, hence its name. With its wrought-iron furniture and laced canopy over the queen- sized bed, this room has hosted many successful marriage proposals and memorable honeymoons. This carpeted room has a high thatched ceiling in the bedroom alcove and seating area. The en-suite bathroom (no shower) with pine ceiling is a recent addition. The TV is 37 cm and can be viewed from the bed. The outdoor seating area overlooks the garden and also provides easy access to a garden meditation area overlooking the stream.
