SLEEPING BEAUTY

A pantomime for the whole Family based on the Brothers Grimm’s fairy tale. On the day of the baby princess Aurora’s christening, three good fairies arrive to bless her. However an evil witch who was not invited arrives and curses the baby, by saying ‘On the day of her eighteenth Birthday she will prick her finger by a rose’s thorn and die.’

The third fairy, who has not yet completed her blessing, manages to alter the spell, so that when she pricks her finger she will not die but rather, sleep for a hundred years, and only the kiss of a person who is pure of heart will break the spell. The Princess grows into a beautiful young girl, who falls in love with the handsome gardener, who has developed a special brand of roses which have no thorns. All that time, the evil witch is waiting for her eighteenth birthday. As anticipated, Aurora’s finger is pricked by a thorn of an ordinary rose which was brought to her by the witch as a birthday present, and immediately falls into a deep sleep. The kiss of the gardener, who is in fact a prince and Princess Aurora’s true love, breaks the spell, she wakes up and they live happily ever after.

This fun filled play with lots of music, song and dance will entertain children of all ages, young and old.
